There was a time when it appeared that Manny Pacquiao would go down as the greatest boxer of all-time, but that talk has quickly faded after his last two fights. Manny Pacquiao was considered to be the best boxer in the world at the end of 2011 when he had a 54-3-2 record and the WBO Welterweight title, but Pacquiao has failed to win a fight since then.

Pacquiao lost his WBO Welterweight title to Timothy Bradley in June 2012 when he lost by a split decision. The outcome was extremely controversial and many people watching the fight thought that Pacquiao should have won, but it would be his next match that would ruin his reputation.

Manny Pacquiao would face Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time at the end of 2012. Pacquiao had never lost to Marquez, but nearly every boxing expert thought Marquez was the better fighter in all three matches. Pacquiao would lose by knockout to Juan Manuel Marquez in the fourth fight, which is the only time that Pacquiao has been knocked out in his career.

Manny Pacquiao will still go down as one of the best boxers of all-time, but it is going to be hard to argue that he is greatest fighter ever after his last two performances.

If you are looking for an example of what made Muhammad Ali, “The Greatest,” then look no further than “The Rumble in the Jungle.” This highly anticipated battle between the older Ali and the heavily favored champion George Foreman is proof of the genius of Ali. The tactical side of Ali is evident as he studied Foreman’s strengths and weaknesses and played to his emotions, to turn the fight in his favor.
Shortly into the fight, Ali knew he was no match for the powerful punches thrown by Foreman. This is where brain overpowers brawn. Ali realized, in order to beat the champ, he would need to outlast him. Enter the now famous, rope-a-dope…the maneuver of hanging back on the ropes, covering up and letting Foreman swing away. Ali was positioned in such a way that Foreman’s relentless onslaught did the least amount of damage. Ali would get off the ropes long enough to drape himself on the champ and exert the force of his weight onto big George, attempting to drag him down. When Ali got close, he would verbally taunt George, which started him swinging furiously. Every opportunity Ali had, he would shoot straight punches to the face of Foreman. As the fight continued, fatigue set in, and Foreman’s punches became ineffective. Ali finished him in the 8th round with a hard right to the face, much to the delight of the Zaire faithful.
Was this the greatest fight ever? In terms of the hype, promotion and media coverage, this could be considered a great fight, however, as far as the battle between the two fighters, the answer is no.

Pacquiao and Bradley had a great fight a few weeks ago back in June which garnered a huge number of celebrities to watch the fight live. American Idol Jessica Sanchez who is also a Filipino sang the Star Spangled Banner. It was truly a star studded event, but what most people still didn’t get was how Pacquiao still lost in this fight. Despite the fact that Bradley won a few rounds, the judges scores were really close, and Manny’s face was barely even beat up compared to the punches that Bradley had to take.

After the fight had ended, Manny remained humble as ever, but still exclaiming in the interview afterwards that he had won the fight. His name has caused him to gain even more attention because of how humble he was after this fight.

The debate between who won has still never ended in the eyes of those who watched the fight with the majority of people saying Manny deserved the title. While the Bradley fans gladly accepted the win, Manny’s fans still believe that Manny deserved the title. Out of the three judges, two of them voted Bradley the winner over Pacquiao. The fight still remains to be a debate and always will be a debate until a rematch is done or Manny takes home a new title.

Boxing is one of the most exciting sports in the world. A good boxer requires power, sharp reflexes and good technique to defeat his opponent. I have seen some legendary boxers like Muhammad Ali, Julio Cesar Chavez, George Foreman and Mike Tyson, but these days Wladimir Klitschko is ruling the boxing world like a king, and it is very difficult to predict that who will be the next to challenge his supremacy.

Since last seven years, this Ukrainian boxer is shining like a bright star. So far, he has fought 61 fights and just lost three of them. He has knocked out his opponents 51 times, and that is a mere proof of his complete dominance in this game. At present, he is the unified champion of IBO, IBF, WBA and WBO titles.

These days, the boxing fans are eager to find a challenger, who can at least produce an exciting encounter. Klitschko has already defeated most of the highly ranked heavyweights However, there are few names in my mind which can be upcoming challengers, and some of them are Alexander Povetkin, Tyson Fury, Tomasz Adamek, Seth Mitchell, Tony Thompson and Chris Arreola.

Most of the followers of this game are of the view that Cristobal Arreola could be next to face Klitschko in the ring. Presently, the American boxer Arreola is WBC FECOMBOX Heavyweight Champion and like all the fans, I am also anticipating a great fight between the two in the near future.

Ali won many boxing titles, including Golden Gloves in Kentucky and nationally. At the Summer Olympics of 1960, Muhammad Ali won the gold metal in the Light Heavyweight boxing.

Ali began boxing professionally in 1960 and went on to win 56 of his 61 bouts. He is best known for his boxing style that involves bouncing and moving around to distract and tire his opponent. In 1964, Muhammad Ali was declared the World Heavyweight Champion after winning a title bout against Charles “Sonny” Liston.

Ali would go on win the title two more times, once against George Foreman and then when he stopped Joe Frazier in 1975. Muhammad Ali is the only boxer in history to win the Heavyweight title three times.

Ring Magazine, ESPN.com and The Associated Press have all ranked Ali as one of the best fighters in Heavyweight history. Muhammad Ali retired from boxing in 1979. His retirement was short-lived, as he went back to boxing in 1980 to fight Larry Holmes. In 1984, Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.More info here: Muhammad Ali found guilty on this day, June 20, 1967
