Cassius Clay was born in Kentucky in 1942. Young Cassius began to box at a young age and later changed his name to Muhammad Ali, after converting to Islam. Ali won many boxing titles, including Golden Gloves in Kentucky and nationally. At the Summer Olympics of 1960, Muhammad Ali won the gold metal in the Light Heavyweight boxing. Ali began boxing professionally in 1960 and went on to win 56 of his 61 bouts. He is best known for his boxing style that involves bouncing and moving around to distract and tire his opponent.In 1964, Muhammad Ali was declared the World Heavyweight Champion after winning a title bout against Charles “Sonny” Liston. Ali would go on win the title two more times, once against George Foreman and then when he stopped Joe Frazier in 1975. Muhammad Ali is the only boxer in history to win the Heavyweight title three times. For quite a few years, boxing fans have been eagerly anticipating a bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Unfortunately, the fight has yet to be officially booked. There are numerous rumors as to why the fight has never manifested. Some fans argue that Mayweather is simply too afraid of losing to Mr. Pacquiao. Allegedly, Mayweather refused to pat gloves with Pacquiao unless he was tested for drugs. Others say that Mayweather was not being fair in regards to the sharing of the prize money.

There was a time when it appeared that Manny Pacquiao would go down as the greatest boxer of all-time, but that talk has quickly faded after his last two fights. Manny Pacquiao was considered to be the best boxer in the world at the end of 2011 when he had a 54-3-2 record and the WBO Welterweight title, but Pacquiao has failed to win a fight since then.

Pacquiao lost his WBO Welterweight title to Timothy Bradley in June 2012 when he lost by a split decision. (more…)

Pacquiao and Bradley had a great fight a few weeks ago back in June which garnered a huge number of celebrities to watch the fight live. American Idol Jessica Sanchez who is also a Filipino sang the Star Spangled Banner. It was truly a star studded event, but what most people still didn’t get was how Pacquiao still lost in this fight.
