Direct TV and services like it are great if you need some football or baseball or basketball overload, but where is all the boxing? There used to be a time when boxing was everywhere. It was on TV and it was on the radio and you had a harder time not hearing about it.
Where is it now?
Sure, there are fights and events you can order on-demand but you don’t see it advertised as much as baseball and football. Entire networks will stop for the Superbowl or even just some major playoff. No one will shut up about those and advertising will be at an all-time high.
Doesn’t quite happen that way with boxing and the only time-stopping match anyone remembers about that sport is the Rumble in the Jungle. It’s a shame since boxing, despite all that it’s involved, is the quintessential show of heart and sportsmanship. It’s all about two fighters entering a ring to see who is the best.
Some of the best movies were about boxing including iconic classics like Rocky and Million Dollar Baby. There are plenty of other films about other sports as well, that’s not the point. The point is that for how great boxing is, it is much harder to stumble across than baseball or football.
